Digital signage for restaurants offers a number of advantages over traditional signs and menu boards. Using a digital sign or digital menu board can help restaurant owners and operators save time and money, ease marketing efforts, and make daily operations run smoother.
A primary concern for many restaurant owners when considering the change to a digital signage solution is the initial cost. But with the cost of newer high-resolution TVs and commercial displays ever decreasing, and the costs of traditional signs and print media staying the same, digital signage offers a clear advantage. Another distinct cost advantage is that despite a larger upfront investment, restaurant digital signage equipment only needs to be purchased once. Old-fashioned signs and print media must be re-ordered and paid for every time a change is needed. With digital signs, changes can be made with a few simple mouseclicks and keystrokes. Since there's no need to keep ordering new media, the cost savings over time is enormous.
Marketing and Promotions
Digital signage in restaurants can also make marketing efforts a breeze. Gone are the days of having to send your design to the printer and wait. If you want to display a new promotion in your restaurant, digital signage lets you quickly setup your promotion and push it to your display. Have a tasty new menu item? Uploading HD photo and video to a digital sign is a fast and easy solution to show it off to your customers.
Many restaurants offer specials during different days of the week, or times of day. Promotions for daily specials, happy hour drink specials, and lunch or dinner specials can all be automated and scheduled to display at specific times using digital signage.
Does your restaurant host live music or show sporting events? Make sure to let your customers know when the next band is playing, or remind them to stop in for a drink to catch the home team's next game. Since announcing new events like these requires constantly updating the information, this would not be practical for traditional signs. Digital signage makes this easy and is sure to grab people's attention.
Update Anytime and From Anywhere
Did the price of one of your main ingredients just go up, forcing you to charge a bit more for some of your food items? Digital signage lets restaurant managers change menu board prices instantly, rather than taking a hit for the price difference, or make physical changes to a regular sign board.
For those who can't always be at their restaurant, or those who manage a chain of restaurants, digital signage provides an easy solution to updating sign content. With a basic internet connection, you can easily update all your digital signs from anywhere. No more reaching or getting up on a ladder to change items on old-fashioned menu boards.
Choosing The Right Digital Signage
The features mentioned above are available on most modern digital signage systems, however you should always check with the provider to make sure their products will meet your particular needs. Some features such as scheduling and accessing the digital sign software remotely over the internet may not be available from every manufacturer. Exhibio digital signage systems are capable of delivering all the solutions presented in this article. You can contact Exhibio here for more information.

Digital signage offers many benefits that traditional static signs don’t. These dynamic displays are incredibly versatile, eye-catching, and excellent tools for communication.
Because these displays can be programmed with animations, videos and sound digital signs grab the attention of the audience far better than a simple static sign. Content can be vibrant, dynamic and full of motion and exciting images, making it hard to ignore.
Unlike static signage, digital displays can deliver an up to date and focused message directly to the target audience. For example, a retail environment may have their houseware screens advertising discounts on knives and cookware, while the entertainment screens are displaying the new movie releases. Digital signs are easy to update and can display multiple messages or images on one screen, making it easier to make a greater impact on the audience.
Centralized control of the digital signage network allows control of hundreds or thousands of displays from one location. This ensures quality and consistency with minimal resources required to manage the network. Digital signage allows content changes as often as needed without any additional cost.
For most industries that still rely on print, each time their message or campaign changes, they have to pay to have all of their printed materials reprinted with the new information. This can become costly over time but digital signs can eliminate the cost of printing and distributing static signs and fliers. While digital displays may require a higher initial investment than printed materials, they can still be cost effective and even earn revenue. Ad space can be sold on the digital network to third parties, which will help recoup the cost of getting started.
Digital signage is easy to use and offers great benefits such as focused message delivery, centralized control over all displays, versatility and can be easily adapted to the specific demographics of the target audience.

With touchscreens and wayfinding technology right at their fingertips, zoo patrons are enjoying a much more interactive and entertaining experience. Dynamic digital displays are helping engage, educate and inform visitors like never before.
New wayfinding technology is a great way for guests to easily navigate through the facility. Whether they’re looking for the next exhibit they’d like to see, a special showing or the nearest restroom, interactive kiosks located conveniently throughout the zoo or even built right into the exhibit display can be incredibly helpful to visitors. Guests can use these screens to pick their next destination and get a custom map to guide them exactly where they want to go. With these displays, there’s also no longer a need to post static maps throughout the zoo.
Digital displays can also allow visitors to self-guide their learning experience and enhance their visit to the zoo. Touchscreen displays can teach guests about the sleeping habits of the animal they’re viewing which could help explain why they’re always hiding or sleeping when visitors arrive! Patrons can learn as much as they want about the exhibit by navigating through interactive screens filled with customized information about the animals they’re viewing.
Another great benefit of digital displays is that they can be updated quickly and easily in order to broadcast important updates such as sudden weather changes, an escaped animal, or other safety information. These updates can be broadcast to interrupt regularly scheduled content so that the public is immediately informed.
Along with emergency or important updates, digital signs can frequently be changed to inform guests of special deals at concession stands, gift shops, or even of special shows and exhibits! Zoos can also keep their visitors updated about upcoming fundraising and other community events via dynamic digital displays located throughout the facility.

Just having digital signage in your store or business isn’t enough. You need to have an interactive display. People that touch something for more than a few seconds are much more willing to buy. Place interactive touch screens near your target products to move. Show camerapersons of other brands, why yours is better. Have options for features and FAQ’s for the products. If you can get the people to stop and click through your interactive display they are much more likely to buy your product.
In addition to the touch screen use calls to action on the display. Ask people to visit your website for more discounts or information. Use social media to increase their engagement. Require the customer to like your Facebook page in order to get a coupon or access to members only content. Engage your consumer in any way you can. The longer they spend interacting with your display, the more likely you are to get a sale.

Did you know that only 41 of 50 states allows digital billboards? While this number has grown rapidly in the past few years it is still amazing that 9 states haven’t see the light as of yet. Digital billboards provide huge benefits over the standard paper billboards of old. It would take months to design, months to print out. The designing would then need to be shipped to the desired location. A crew of several people would be involved with hanging the paper sign that in some cases might take a day or more to install. They were subject to extreme weather conditions, primarily high winds. If something happened to the board it was rarely ever fixed as it was far too costly. It would simply run the rest of it’s length torn or tattered. Not exactly the bang for the buck the customer was hoping for.
Digital signage on the other hand requires a one time installation of the displays. The technology for the displays has gotten so advanced that they will last 10 years with the same picture quality as the day they were installed. There is no printing costs, not shipping costs. You still have the design costs, but it’s not an all or nothing design. The design can be changed daily if the customer prefers. There is no risk to human life by climbing up on the billboard, once the displays are installed everything else is monitored, and controlled remotely. It is a far less expensive venture over time, it’s greener for the environment and it provides far more advertising revenue for the owners of the billboard. It also can decrease the cost of the advertising for the customer overall.
So why are 9 states holding out? Get involved! Find out if you state is one of the hold outs and lobby for them to get on board. Get involved with Outdoor Advertising Association of America, they have been responsible for the amazing progress thus far.

In the technology age we live in today, most companies are well aware of monitoring the statistics that come from their website. There are programs out such as Google Analytics that can tell you exactly how many people have been on your site, how many are unique visits, how long they stayed on your site in general as well as how long on each specific page. In addition the program will tell you where in the world they are located as well as the time of day. Companies realize this information in invaluable for their online marketing planning. This data allows them to target exactly the people they want with amazing accuracy. What isn’t as well known, is that there is now software that will provide similar type of stats for your digital signage investment.
It’s called AVA or anonymous video analytics. This is where you can use your existing security camera systems or install specific ones for this purpose to determine who is actually watching your display. You will know how long they watched the sign, if it is an interactive display you will see if they were engaged in the display and how long they stayed on each message. It may seem far fetched at the moment, just as the concept of Google Analytics did a few years ago but researchers are finding this information extremely valuable.
The software has been around for a while, but it has been feared by network broadcasters. The networks rely on advertising revenue and they fear that they will not live up to their sponsor’s expectations if they know exactly who is watching and for how long. The data however doesn’t back that up. Already Arbiton & Nislsen know this AVA stuff like the back of their hands. These are the pros and as they are going to be pushing it further and further. Look for AVA to become the next Google Analytics for the digital display world.
